Elden Ring Winged Scythe Location Guide

The Winged Scythe is widely considered one of the best early-game armaments in Elden Ring, particularly for players focusing on Faith builds. Offering inherent holy damage, passive blood loss buildup, and a unique skill, it allows players to take on tough challenges early in their journey. Securing this powerful reaper requires traveling to a specific set of ruins located in the southern region of the Lands Between.
Where to Find the Winged Scythe
To obtain the Winged Scythe, players must head south into the Weeping Peninsula. The weapon is stashed inside a treasure chest within the basement of the Tombsward Ruins. You can reach this zone early in your playthrough without needing to defeat any major boss encounters.
Upon reaching the Tombsward Ruins, search for a staircase that leads down into an underground room. Inside the subterranean area, you will encounter two Page enemies guarding the doorway. Defeat or bypass these guards to enter the back room and loot the weapon from the chest.
Stat Requirements and Build Scaling
Before equipping the Winged Scythe, Tarnished adventurers must meet several character stat thresholds. The weapon requires 16 Strength, 16 Dexterity, and 24 Faith to wield effectively. Because of its high Faith requirement, starting classes like the Prophet or Confessor offer an ideal baseline for using it early.
The weapon scales primarily with Faith and Dexterity, making it an excellent choice for holy hybrid builds. It upgrades using Somber Smithing Stones, allowing players to boost its damage quickly as they explore new regions. Additionally, its innate holy damage and bleed effect make it highly effective against a variety of enemy types.
Weapon Skill and Combat Utility
The defining feature of the Winged Scythe is its unique Ash of War, known as Angel's Wings. When activated, the player leaps into the air and delivers a sweeping double slash that deals heavy holy damage. This skill provides great mobility and range during tense combat encounters.
In Player-versus-Player (PvP) scenarios, Angel's Wings grants a strategic advantage by preventing hit opponents from using their Flask of Crimson Tears for 30 seconds. The weapon's light, sweeping moveset also helps manage large groups of regular foes during world exploration. Combining this reaper with offensive incantations creates a versatile setup for both casual exploration and boss fights.
