Starting the Quest in Hateno Village
To begin this side adventure, travel to Hateno Village located in the East Necluda region. Head inside Mayor Reede's prominent home near the village center and speak with him directly. He explains his desire to recreate a historic delicacy crafted by his grandfather, though he can only recall its creamy texture and distinctively pungent aroma.
Understanding Reede's vague description requires investigating local lore surrounding Hateno's agricultural past. Players must venture toward the outskirts of the village to find someone who holds the key to this forgotten recipe.
Completing A Letter to Koyin
Head northeast toward Hateno Pasture near Lake Sumac, where you will encounter an NPC named Koyin standing near the docks. She explains that a message bottle containing her grandfather's lost recipe is stuck floating out in the middle of the water.
Using Link's Ultrahand ability, construct a simple raft or attach tree trunks together to reach the floating bottle. Retrieve the bottle from the lake and hand it over to Koyin to complete her short quest line. In appreciation, Koyin opens up the Hateno Cheese Shop and presents Link with his first piece of fresh Hateno Cheese.
Delivering Hateno Cheese to Mayor Reede
With the Hateno Cheese in your inventory, return to Mayor Reede's residence in the heart of Hateno Village. As soon as you approach him, Reede will immediately recognize the distinct aroma of the long-lost signature food.
Handing over the cheese completes the A New Signature Food quest, earning you a Silver Rupee worth 100 Rupees as a reward. Unlocking Hateno Cheese also allows players to cook new recipes across Hyrule, including popular dishes like Hateno Cheese Pizza.
